Whats Your Damage?

I would love it so much if this was on when I was in NYC!

"A musical adaptation of the '80s black comedy Heathers is in the works, according to Hollywood Reporter. Andy Fickman, director of a musical adaptation of Reefer Madness, is working on the adaptation with "Reefer" collaborator Kevin Murphy. Composer Larry O'Keefe, who earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway version of Legally Blonde, is composing the score. Readings of the script have already been held, with "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell playing the lead and Christian Campbell as J.D. ..... Explaining his motives, Fickman just says it would be perfect if the famous utterance, "I love my dead gay son," could be expressed in song. And "Teenage Suicide (Don't Do It)" is already done!"

No one ever has a good time

Dance of the Outcasts

it seems they were all cheated of some marvellous experience which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I’m telling you about it

Frank O´Hara reading his poem "Having a coke with you" in his flat in New York in 1966, shortly before his accidental death. Taken from - "USA: Poetry: Frank O'Hara" produced and directed by Richard Moore, for KQED and WNET. Originally aired on September 1, 1966. This video was found where more videos can be seen: on http://www.frankohara.org

This is one of my favourite videos of all time.

And when we’re holding hands it’s like having sex to me

Narnia-Rap-Lazy-Sunday-SNL.JPG

I was on the train for 'Dick in a Box' and 'Jizz in My Pants' but seemed to miss some of the earlier Samberg (AKA dream man) genius such as the Natalie Portman Rap, Roy Rules and Lazy Sunday (above). He honestly is the funniest man alive!

Further evidence - Single Ladies - also how cute does he look in a leotard?

Also lovin' 'I'm on a Boat' - of course he gets T-Pain (why so much hate for the auto tune people?).

500 days of Summer

Most annoying voice over ever - at least they've cut it down to minimum from the old trailer! However my two favourite actors (Zooey D and Joseph G-L) together at last? SWOON!

Here's the skinny from the website -

"Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn't. This post modern love story is never what we expect it to be -- It's thorny yet exhilarating, funny and sad, a twisted journey of highs and lows that doesn't quite go where we think it will. When Tom, a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, is blindsided after his girlfriend summer dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days "together" to try to figure out where things went wrong. His reflections ultimately lead him to finally rediscover his true passions in life."

GAH!

I was just saying the other day to my friend Hugh its about time the Flaming Lips came back to Melbourne and here's the news! I remember a petition started for them to tour again right before they'd even left the country in 2004! One of the best shows I've ever seen truly!

The Flaming Lips will perform at the Sydney Hordern Pavilion on Tues July 28th and at Melbourne Festival Hall on Wed July 29th. Tickets are on sale Thursday April 2nd from 9am.

THE FLAMING LIPS JULY 2009
TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY APRIL 2ND FROM 9AM
With special guests to be announced

Check it!

And away we go!

Trailer for new Sam Mendes directed American indie flick penned by Dave Eggers: 'Away We Go" will it be tragic e.g. Garden State, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine etc or brilliant e.g. Squid and the Whale? Who knows anymore?

PS is Maya Rudolph permanently pregnant? way to go PT Anderson!

Film your murders like love scenes, and film your love scenes like murders.

Lorick's Fall '09 Lookbook - feel the cinematic fashion hotness - hitchcock meets french new wave - deadly! (via Refinery 29)

The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own.

Do you love it? Its my new toy for my trip! I'm determined to whip this baby out more than I did my old one and I don't think it hurts that I am obsessed with the preppy brown colour. Its pretty much the camera that everyone worth their plaid and horn rim glasses should own. I'm a doofus when it comes to anything technical - honestly I am - no false modesty here! But its one of my 8 things to do in my life - that is - to take some beautiful pictures. I'm highly unoriginal in that regard - I think "take some beautiful photos" is on everyone's list of things to do in their life. I wonder if I can substitute in "take some pictures with a truly beautiful camera"? Its probably more achievable!

Going on a Spring time holiday!

I'm leaving Autumn in Melbourne (my fave season) for Spring in New York which I'm sure will suffice! I'm planning on seeing Woody Allen play clarinet, finally see more of the Met, eat my weight in pizza and more! First I need a nice little sublet for April but I'm sure that will all come together somehow!

“There is time for work, and time for love. That leaves no other time”

I'm currently reading Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake and somewhat obsessed with YSL and his ways. One of his big influences was of course Coco Chanel -so I'm really excited about seeing this biopic - Coco Avant Chanel -- or, Coco Before Chanel - with Audrey Tatou. She's a good choice I think and I'm sure the clothes will be amazing!

PS Lets all just pretend Dan Brown and his books and the subsequent films and Audrey's part in that evil just never happened, shall we?

heavy wisdom with a light touch

When I get the blues, I google Woody Allen quotes - theres something about his cynical optimism or optimistic cynicism that makes me feel better about everything. I can't take anything too cheesy or naive or positive when I'm on a cliched-Sunday-mood-descent!

"It's like Vegas. You're up, you're down, but in the end the house always wins. Doesn't mean you didn't have fun." - Decosntructing Harry

I feel that life is divided into the horrible and the miserable. That's the two categories. The horrible are like, I don't know, terminal cases, you know, and blind people, crippled. I don't know how they get through life. It's amazing to me. And the miserable is everyone else. So you should be thankful that you're miserable, because that's very lucky, to be miserable. - Annie Hall

To be happy is to love, to be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy, therefore, to be unhappy one must love, or love to suffer, or suffer from too much happiness — I hope you're getting this down. - Just plain old Allen

Doris: You have no values. Your whole life, it’s nihilism, it’s cynicism, it’s sarcasm, and orgasm.
Harry: Y’know, in France I could run on that slogan and win. - Deconstructing Harry

mon amie la rose

Besides the slight flashback to Marie Antoinette (ew) - this ad by Sofia Coppola for Dior is pretty cute!I love how pastel everything is like one big macaroon! from memory i don't like the smell of Miss Dior Cherie (too sweet) though I've been thinking about switching from my signature Stella by Stella to something like MJ's Fig. I like unisex scents - I've worn men's fragrances in the past like Aqua di Gio by Armani and Cool Water by Davidoff. Yum! OK off to the perfume counter with you!

PS I've been having life is meaningless lets all run away to Paris a la Revolutionary Road lately! Inspiring.

some people have said that its for a movie that affleck/phoenix are shooting - and just not telling the world. either that or someones' gone a bit bonkers....
ps has anyone seen two lovers? i absolutely hated 'we own the night' - terrible script - so i'm a bit apprehensive about another one written and directed by Gray!

Money Shot

Before Sunrise, 1995, Richard Linklater

the song is Kath Bloom - she is amazing - recently Smog did an beautiful cover of her song the breeze/my baby cries - which i'm also obsessed with. devendra banhart did a cover of 'forget about him' which is also great but i couldn't find a link so here's the original.

Let us read and let us dance - two amusements that will never do any harm to the world.
